Before the start of the school year, why not talk about cinema?
Maybe you've
already seen this movie (released on August 23rd) that many people are talking
about: "Anatomie d'une chute".
This film, directed by Justine TREIT received the Palme d'Or
at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
There is no
doubt that it will certainly have a lot of success with the public.
The story :
Sandra, Samuel and their 11-year-old visually-impaired son,
Daniel, have been living for a year far from everything, in the mountains of
Maurienne in Savoie.
One day, Samuel is found dead.
A suspicious
death investigation has been opened. Sandra is soon charged despite the doubt:
suicide or homicide?
What really happened?
In the absence of witnesses, we will never know, but the path
that leads to this mystery is fascinating.
Beyond the police intrigue, the film analyzes and dissects
the story of this couple.
I won’t tell you the essential role of the son (Daniel) in
the story.
I will also not reveal the verdict of the trial and the end
of the film.
I leave the suspense...
But doubt will surely hover in the minds of many spectators.
By the way, why
talk about a French movie in an English blog ?
Because beyond the script, the staging and the quality of
interpretation of the actors, an important point should be noted for us, learners
in English at the UIAD.
Most of the dialogues are in English, although the film is
presented in French.
Therefore, seeing this (very good) film represents an
excellent opportunity to improve our understanding.
So, don't
hesitate: run to see (or see again) "Anatomie d'une chute"!
Certainly one of the best movies of the year (in my opinion).
