Review of The Lost King

The Grenoble-Oxford Alliance organized an evening at the Pathé Chavant Cinema in Grenoble, April 5th, 2023 with the English screening of the film "The Lost King" by Stephen Frears, followed by a debate with Susan Blattès, a university professor.

We were around 130 spectators, many of them students from the UIAD and their teachers.

The event takes place in 2012 : it is inspired by an incredible true story. The heroine of the film, Philippa Langley, is a modest young woman, suffering from a chronic fatigue syndrome but passionate about history.

She, on a simple intuition, and in spite of the incomprehension of her family and the defiance of the university circles, wished to establish the truth concerning King Richard III, one of the most controversial monarchs in history due to  Shakespeare's play and other people. The king's profile had been tarnished. With all her fragilities she finally  succeeds in her investigation: she finds the human remains of king Richard III in a Leicester parking lot.

The film is charming, the actors are good and the humour very "British".

Waiting in the queue!
